Varanasi: Sonbhadra police, on Sunday, arrested three liquor smugglers after the seizure of two vehicles carrying liquor value Rs 1.20 crore.
SP Sonbhadra Yashvir Singh stated that in a joint motion, the workforce of crime department and Robertsganj police station succeeded in intercepting two vehicles of liquor smugglers when it have been passing by way of Robertsganj-Chopan street’s overbridge. On checking the vehicles round 50,000 bottles of Indian made overseas liquor was discovered packed in 1,740 packing containers. Whole worth of the seized liquor was estimated as Rs 1.20 crore, he added.
The drivers and the cleaner of the truck recognized as Mehar Singh of Punjab, Sukhwant Singh and Samir Khan of Himanchal Pradesh have been arrested. Throughout preliminary interrogation they divulged that they used to organize pretend paperwork for transportation of liquor to Arunanchal Pradesh after procuring it from Punjab. However, the liquor consignments have been delivered in dry state of Bihar. tnn
