Farmers from 40 villages on Tuesday intensified their agitation against the Greater Noida authority demanding better rehabilitation services and compensation for his or her land that was acquired for the economic growth of town.
Farmers stated if the authority chairman Manoj Kumar Singh won’t meet them to debate their calls for, then they’ll additional intensify their agitation.
Their key calls for are extra compensation for land that’s now being acquired for brand spanking new industrial areas, moreover residential plots for his or her households, jobs for his or her youngsters, free schooling in personal faculties, extra abadi (residential) land for his or her youngsters and different advantages.
In end-2022, farmers had threatened to begin their agitation if their abadi land, residential plots and different points aren’t resolved. Now, the farmers are joined by their youngsters and elders on the website of the protest that began on April 25 to push their calls for. They’re now tenting on the website outdoors the Greater Noida authority workplace at evening too.
“We had advised the officers clearly that if they don’t deal with our calls for, together with abadi land disputes, allot 6% residential plots, hike the land shopping for charges and different calls for then we are going to begin an indefinite strike outdoors the authority workplace. We don’t wish to speak to the Greater Noida chief govt officer; we have to meet the chairman to debate and resolve our points,” stated Vikas Chaudhary, a farmer main the protest.
The Greater Noida authority on April 21, 2023, in its 129th board assembly, elevated the land compensation charge to ₹4,125 per sq. metre from the sooner charge of ₹3,750 per sq. metre for farmers who will quit their land for the deliberate growth. Farmers stated they aren’t pleased with this hike.
“The Greater Noida needs to purchase our land at a charge of ₹4,125 per sq. metre when the market charges are greater than that. The authority allots industrial land at a charge round ₹25,000 per sq. metre and, available in the market, the economic plots can be found at a charge of ₹50,000 per sq. metre. Then why would the authority wish to cheat the harmless farmers of their rightful compensation. We would like the charges to be on par with the prevailing market charges and these charges will probably be determined by the senior officers and farmers’ delegation,” stated Naveen Bhati, a farmer.
“We now have mentioned the farmers’ points and are addressing their issues. We hope that they’ll quickly finish their protest as we have now assured them that their points will probably be addressed as per the regulation,” stated Ritu Maheshwari, chief govt officer, Greater Noida authority.
