VARANASI: The ICAR- Indian Vegetable Analysis Institute (IIVR), Varanasi, on Monday, carried out an consciousness cum coaching programme – ‘Krishak Pathshala’ beneath the River mattress cultivation venture funded by the Uttar Pradesh Council of Agricultural Analysis (UPCAR) with an purpose to generate consciousness on trendy advances in cultivation of cucurbit greens among the many small and marginal farmers engaged within the age-old diara land cultivation on the banks of the Ganga basin.
Greater than 150 farmers took half within the programme organised on the banks of the Ganga at Mazwan Taras village in Mirzapur district. Presiding over the programme, the previous vice-chancellor of the Mahatma Gandhi Gramodaya Vishwavidyalaya, Chitrakoot, Prof NC Gautam urged the farmers to domesticate top quality cucurbit varieties from IIVR and undertake scientific practices in Cachhar area too. He praised the scientists working beneath the UPCAR venture ‘Identification of appropriate selection/hybrids of cucurbitaceous crops and growth of manufacturing protocol for higher livelihood of riverbed (Diara Land) farming group’.
The director-incharge of IIVR, PM Singh requested the farmers of Cachhar to t affiliate with the scientists for efficient crop-related drawback fixing .
