The crime department of the Ghaziabad police on Tuesday arrested 9 individuals — six members of a gang that stole equipment from the Regional Fast Transit System (RRTS) project and three scrap sellers to whom they offered the loot.
The police stated the suspects have been arrested throughout a police crackdown close to Vasundhara underpass and recognized as Mohammad Sameer, 20, Rizwan, 19, Nisar Ali, 26, Shahadat Ali, 19, Shamsher Murtaza, 24 and Mohammad Majid, 20, whereas three scrap sellers have been recognized as Brijesh Kumar Munde, 45, Mohammad Shahzad, 30, and Subodh Kumar, 43.
“That is an interstate gang and largely focused electrical cables stored for the RRTS project. On August 10, 2023, we arrested 10 members of the identical gang. The 9 suspects we arrested on Tuesday embrace three scrap sellers, two of whom are from Delhi and one from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad. The gang focused the RRTS project sites late at night time and would flee with the electrical cables. Later, they’d promote these to scrap sellers,” stated Sacchidanand, extra deputy commissioner of police, crime department.
