Gautam Budh Nagar police will begin penalising vehicles without high-security registration plates (HSRPs) from Friday because the deadline of February 15 for getting them put in is over, police mentioned on Thursday. A penalty of ₹5,000 shall be imposed on vehicles operating without HSRP, police added.
Uttar Pradesh further director basic of police (visitors and street security), Anupam Kulshreshtha, has written to police chiefs of all districts to begin taking strict motion towards vehicles that do not need HSRP.
HSRPs are necessary throughout India they usually have been launched with the goal to enhance safety and curb car thefts.
“Installing HSRPs turned necessary in 2019 and car homeowners got ample time until February 15 to make sure that they get these quantity plates put in. These without HSRP have been identified to be concerned in numerous crimes as effectively and it is a crucial security measure. We’ll impose a ₹5,000 fine on vehicles that don’t have HSRP,” mentioned Anil Kumar Yadav, deputy commissioner of police (visitors).
Transport division officers mentioned there are round 870,000 vehicles registered in Gautam Budh Nagar district and round 600,000 have already got HSRP.
“Round 70% of the vehicles registered right here have already got HSRP because it was mandated in 2019 and all businesses present them to the newly registered vehicles. The remaining are largely both older vehicles or these from rural populations the place consciousness is low,” mentioned Siyaram Verma, assistant regional transport officer, Gautam Budh Nagar.
