The gender sensitization cell of the College of Lucknow performed an occasion within the collection named ‘Areas’ at Chandrashekhar Azad lawns on the College campus on Wednesday.
‘Roohani’, an all-girls band of the College and distinguished cultural activist and theatre artist Mahendra Pal had been the centre of attraction.
Songs selling gender equality and girls empowerment like ‘baadal pe paav hain’, ‘dil hai chhota sa’, ‘Aashayen’, ‘o ri chirayiya’, had been sung. The cell celebrated famous feminist author Kamla Bhasin songs like Tod tod ke bandhan, iraade kar buland… College students recited poetry to advertise gender equality. The occasion was attended by over 75 college students.
It could be famous that this ‘GenSen cell’ was created in 2020 by vice chancellor Prof Alok Kumar Rai and since its inception, the cell has been working in the direction of creating gender equality on the campus.
The programme ‘Areas’ initiated discussions on gender-based violence, harassment, and gender equality among the many college students of the college in their very own areas like canteens, lawns, hostels. The efficiency was adopted by a dialogue among the many gender sensitization cell workforce, the performers and the viewers on private experiences with gender-based violence.
The programme mentioned how our society restricts girls, treats the transgender group, patriarchy and its impact on boys and males, and many others.
The convenor of the cell Prof Roli Misra from the division of economics and her workforce member Prashant answered the viewers’s questions and inspired everybody to talk out towards any type of injustice they see round them.
