A 20-year-old Hindu man in Ghaziabad was allegedly thrashed by a gaggle of bike-borne Muslim men on Wednesday close to Hapur Chungi when he was travelling with a Muslim woman on a motorcycle, police stated. They added that one suspect, recognized as Rahis Ahmadan has been arrested, whereas efforts are underway to establish and nab others.
Police stated that the sufferer man, recognized as Rajat Kumar, and the woman are colleagues and work collectively at a multi-speciality hospital in Raj Nagar Extension. They added that the woman is a resident of a locality underneath Kavi Nagar police station limits.
In line with police, Kumar in his grievance at Kavi Nagar police station stated that he made a visit a gasoline station to cost his tank whereas he was coming from Raj Nagar Extension. The police stated that in investigation, it was revealed that he was he was on his bike alongside with the woman.
From there onwards, a number of men on bikes began following him from there and stopped him close to the Hapur Chungi intersection barely 500 metres from the Kavi Nagar police station, Kumar acknowledged in his grievance..
“Throughout our investigation, it was found that the suspects knew the person and woman. Upon seeing them collectively, they objected to the woman on why she was roaming with him. We’ve arrested one suspect from the spot whereas a search is on for others,” stated Abhishek Srivastava, ACP (Kavi Nagar).
An FIR underneath sections 147 (rioting), 341 (wrongful confinement) and 323 (voluntarily inflicting harm) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at Kavi Nagar police station, police stated.
“As per our investigation, there have been about 4-5 men and they are going to be arrested quickly,” stated Nipun Agarwal, DCP (metropolis).
