Twelve folks, together with three ladies and a minor, have been killed when a tanker collided head-on with a tempo ferrying passengers in (*12*) district on Thursday morning, senior police officers mentioned in Lucknow.
They mentioned the incident passed off because of the tanker rushing in low visibility of dense fog.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences to the members of the family of the deceased and directed the authorities to offer all help required. The district administration had assured an ex-gratia fee of ₹5lakh every to the members of the family of the victims.
Officers mentioned that the incident passed off close to Sugsugi village on Farrukhabad freeway, beneath the Allahganj police station limits at round 11 am when the tempo was taking the passengers to Dhai Ghat for a holy dip in the Ganga.
The collision was so huge that at the least six passengers have been thrown out of the tempo and the truck crushed them whereas making an attempt to flee after the accident, they mentioned, including that some passengers would have been rescued if the truck had not tried to flee from the spot after the collision.
(*12*) superintendent of police (SP) Ashok Kumar Meena mentioned that two of the deceased every have been from 4 households. He mentioned that the deceased included Lala Ram and his brother Puttu Lal, Siya Ram and his brother Suresh Kumar, Rampa and her minor son Rahul, Anant Ram and his mom Basanta, Luvkush, Yati Ram, Pothi Ram and Rupa Devi.
He mentioned the our bodies of the deceased got to the following of kin after a autopsy examination, and efforts have been on to arrest the tanker driver.
