VARANASI: A musical evening by famend musicians Rama Vaidyanathan, Pt Ajay Pohankar, Pt Ronu Majumdar and others offered on the fourth evening of the seven-day Sankat Mochan Music Festival, left the viewers spell-bound, on Thursday.
The musical evening started with a phenomenal composition of Bharatnatyam by Rama Vaidyanathan from Delhi. Starting with Shri Ram Vandana, she offered many compositions. She was adopted by Thakur Chakrapani Singh from New York, who performed on Kachhapi Veena. He was accompanied by Pt Samar Saha on Tabla.
Famous classical singer Pt Ajay Pohankar from Mumbai enthralled the viewers together with his singing. He was accompanied by Yashwant Vaishnav on tabla and Paromita Mukherjee on samvadini. Within the subsequent efficiency, Shakir Khan, the son and disciple of Ustad Shahid Parvez, enthralled the viewers by taking part in the sitar. Yashwant Vaishnav accompanied him on tabla. Famend flute participant Pt Ronu Majumdar mesmerised the viewers together with his efficiency. Famous tabla participant Pt Sanju Sahay accompanied him. He was adopted by Pt Jasraj’s disciple, Pt Neeraj Parikh, who offered a vocal recital, accompanied by Badrinarayan Pandit on tabla and Mohit Sahni on Samvadini. Shuddhsheel Chatterjee from Kolkata performed santoor within the last efficiency of the fourth evening. Younger artist Gaurav Chakraborty accompanied him on the tabla and made the efficiency spectacular by giving skilful accompaniment.
