LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (UP ATS) busted a pan-India gun-running racket with the arrest of two individuals from Azamgarh on Saturday.
The accused, Ramshabd (55) and his confederate Sanjay Yadav (39), reportedly purchased 10 subtle .32 bore firearms for Rs 50,000 every from Madhya Pradesh and Bihar and bought them for round Rs 1 lakh every to Naxals in Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, and gangsters in Rajasthan.
ADG, ATS, Naveen Arora advised TOI that the gang was working for the final 10 years and Ramshabd was the kingpin who had 31 instances registered in opposition to him. “Six members of the gang, together with the son of Ramshabd, are nonetheless elusive,” mentioned Arora.
